Notes : No subspecies known.

Identification
Dorsal fin with elongated red filaments. Body magenta to red with bright red dotted horizontal lines on flanks. Blue tinge on forehead and upper back. Red filament on lower lobe of tail fin.

Range and habitat
Endemic to Indonesian waters, from east Borneo to north Sulawesi, east to tip of Vogelkop Peninsula. Found around sheltered reefs, often near low corals and algae-rubble.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Not Listed
Status : The species is poorly known and has a small range. Although lots of fishes are caught for the trade in its range, this species remains surprisingly rare. More studies need to be done.
