Notes : No subspecies known.

Identification
This species reaches 9 cm in length. Females and juveniles are pink-orange with clear chin and belly. Adult males unmistakable with black cap edged pink and blue, pink snout, rest of body being bright yellow with longitudinal blue stripes.

Range and habitat
The species occurs patchily in the Indo-Pacific area, from Sri Lanka to Indonesia and Philippines, north to Ryukyu islands. Lives in deep offshore reefs, in open ground rubble areas, from 50 to 60 m deep.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Not Listed
Status : The species has a big but disjunct distribution. It is collected for the trade but this isn’t considered a threat at this time. Monitoring is needed though.
