Notes : No subspecies known.

Identification
Upper part of body of male mostly violet to dark blue with yellow markings from snout and cheeks to first third of body. Light blue and green bands on mid flanks, belly clearer. Black blotch on tail.

Range and habitat
Indian Ocean, so far believed to be endemic to Mauritius. Found in rocky reefs, around rubble areas, collected around 25 meters deep.

IUCN RED LIST : DATA DEFICIENT
CITES : Not Listed
Status : Almost nothing is known about this species. A single male has been collected near Mauritius and more specimens believed to belong to this species have been traded. More studies needed.
