Identification
Face purplish-pink to bluish-pink with green bands radiating from eyes. Body yellow-orange with green tinge near two broad longitudinal wavy pink bands. Tail with blue and pink tips.

Range and habitat
Indo-Pacific, from Red Sea and East Africa to Hawaii, Line and Tuamoto islands, to south Japan. Found around exposed lagoons, reefs and shallow coral reefs exposed to surge.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Not Listed
Status : The species is widespread and found in protected areas. However, it is targeted for the trade and caught in big numbers. Coral reefs, on which it depends, are also highly threatened.
