Identification
Adult specimens can reach 66 cm in length for a weight of 2.5 kg. Huge eyes, large slightly upward-turned mouth. Coloration whitish to pinkish or light gray with black markings on upper half of flanks. All fins are bright yellow.
Range and habitat
This species occurs in the north-eastern parts of Pacific Ocean, from Unalaska Island and Alaska to south California. Mostly found in rocky areas and reefs, around steeply sloping shores, to 540 m.

Status : The species seems to remain common in most of its range. Global warning can lead up to a reduction of the species’ range if not tolerant.
