Identification
The species can reach 51 cm long for a weight of 1,5 kg. Long face, high profile back. White ground coloration with four vertical broad orange-brown bands on flanks and tail peduncle. Double oblique band on face. Tail fin dark brown.

Range and habitat
This species is found in the eastern Pacific ocean, from San Francisco, California (USA) to Baja California (Mexico). Mostly found in rocky reefs, down to at least 302 meters deep.

Status : The species’ status hasn’t been assessed. It remains common in most of its range despite being potentially targeted by fisheries locally.
