Identification
Adults can reach 70 cm in length. Medium-long tail with a skin fold looking like a fin on the underside. Dorsal coloration is olive-green with yellow tinge near eyes and many variable bright blue blotches. Blue lines on tail. White belly.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in the Indo-Pacific area, from Red Sea and east African coast to south Japan, north Australia and east to Solomon Islands. Lives in inshore coral reefs with sandy bottoms nearby, to 50 meters deep.

CITES : Not Listed
Status : The species is targeted by fisheries and also captured for the trade or as bycatch. Some populations are increasing with rarefaction of predators.
