Identification
The species grows to 15 cm in length. Slight feather-shaped body with head pointing downwards. Elongated and thin jaws, looking like a tube. Coloration is silvery white with transparent ventral long ventral fin. Red-orange longitudinal band.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in the Indo Pacific area, from Red Sea and East Africa to New Guinea, north south Japan, south to Australia. Lives in coral reef areas, often on sandy or muddy floors, to 230 meters deep.

CITES : Not Listed
Status : The species isn’t yet considered threatened but its favored habitats are all declining or already in very bad condition. Probably needs uplisting.
