Identification
Adults can grow to 20 cm in length for a weight of 750 g. Smallest and most slender species of its genus. Large slightly upturned mouth, pointed snout. Silvery coloration with green-blue tinge. Fading parallel wavy lines above lateral line.

Range and habitat
This species occurs in the Indo-Pacific area, from India through Philippines and Indonesia to Fiji, north to south Japan. Pelagic species, mostly found in open waters, down to 150 meters deep.

Status : The species is intensively targeted by fisheries all around its range and numbers caught are growing. Monitoring and studies are needed.
