Identification
Losange-shaped body, concave forehead. Coloration mostly blue-grey with crowded tiny white dots on flanks, orange dots on face. Violet tail fin with rows of bright orange spots.

Range and habitat
Indo-Pacific, patchily around Mauritius, Christmas Island, south Japan, Australia, New Caledonia, Hawaii and other Pacific islands. Found in clear lagoons, amongst coral and rubble.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Not Listed
Status : The species has a patchy anti-equatorial distribution. At this time, it isn’t known to face any threats. Rarely collected for the aquarium trade, not yet bred under human care.
