Identification
Body length of 280 cm, shoulder height up to 150 cm, weight of 725 kg. Very large bear with concave face profile. This subspecies is large and has thick and long silver-tipped chocolate-brown hairs. Face is very broad, snout is dark.

Range and habitat
This subspecies occurs in western Canada and north-western USA. Species found in Alaska, Canada, north USA, Europe and most of north and central Asia. Lives in forest, grassland tundra, alpine habitats and semi-deserts.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Appendix II
Status : This species has a very large range and is protected and safe in some areas. In Europe and Asia, many populations are on the verge of extinction.
