Identification
The species grows to 49 cm in length for a weight up to 2.4 kg. Very small tail with small white hair tuft. Short legs with big claws, mobile elongated muzzle. Coloration mostly black-grey with dirty white patch on nape and back.

Range and habitat
The species is found in south-east Asia and is endemic to Philippines, occurring only on Palawan and the Calamian Islands. Lives in secondary forests, cultivated areas, grasslands and swamp forests.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Not listed
Status : The species has a small range but is common where it occurs. It is hunted occasionally but this remains a rare occurrence. No known threats.
