Identification
Body length of 21 cm, tail length of 21 cm, weight of 160 g. Long dark tail. Skin folds visible on flanks, used for gliding between trees. Fur color ranges from dark beige to gray with a black band from forehead to lower back. Black eye contour.

Range and habitat
This subspecies occurs in east and south-east Australia, and Tasmania. The species is also found in northern Australia and in New Guinea. Lives mostly in forests except high-montane areas, up to 3000 meters.

Status : This species has the largest range of all the gliders and remains globally common although local declines due to habitat loss may occur.
