Identification
108 cm body length (tail 90 cm), weight up to 60 kg, females are slightly smaller than males and grey in coloration. Males from this subspecies are dark grey-brown to nearly black. Females grey, sometimes dull rufous-grey.

Range and habitat
This subspecies occurs in most of eastern Australia except Victoria. Species found in most of Australia except far south, also in Barrow Island. Lives in eucalypt forests, shrublands and woodlands, often with rocky outcrops.

CITES : Not listed
Status : The species has a very large range and remains locally common. Barrow Island subspecies is vulnerable because of small population and range.
