Identification
Adults can reach a body length of 14 cm for a tail of 28 cm and a weight of 150 g. Long almost naked tail with small terminal tuft. Head is round with big brown eyes and relatively small ears. Coloration is brown with clearer belly.

Range and habitat
This subspecies is found in Samar, Leyte and nearby small islands. The species occurs in east and South Philippines, from Samar and Leyte to Mindanao. Lives in lowland and coastal forests, occasionally disturbed forests, up to 800 m.

IUCN RED LIST : NEAR THREATENED

Status : The species is declining in many parts of its range, mostly because of habitat destruction but locally because of overexploitation.
