Identification
The species grows to 63 cm in length for a weight of 12 kg. Relatively small species, male bigger than female. Pelage grey to golden-brown. Naked pink skin on face, black and white whiskers. White breast and belly. Very long tail.

Range and habitat
The species occurs from Myanmar to Vietnam, south to greater and lesser Sundas, east to Philippines. Subspecies occurs in mainland and greater sundas. Lives in seashore areas, mangrove forests, humid forests, suburban parks, even near or inside cities, to 2000 m.

Status : The species has a very large range but is often killed because of human-animal conflicts. Some insular subspecies are threatened by habitat loss.
