Identification
The species grows to 60 cm in length. Males slightly bigger than females. Bony ridges giving a distinct appearance to the muzzle. Black face, erectile crest. Pelage dark brown, often with grey tinge on flanks. Ischial callosities grey.

Range and habitat
The species is endemic to Indonesia, occurring only in the north of Sulawesi island, from Gorontalo eastwards to Onggak Dumoga river. Lives in lowland and montane rainforests, to 2000 m.

IUCN RED LIST : VULNERABLE
CITES : Appendix II
Status : The species lives in protected areas but is still threatened by illegal logging and hunting for food.
