Identification
Body length of 63 cm, tail length of 90 cm, weight of 7.9 kg. Most of its face is naked and entirely black. Pelage is glossy black with a long thin tail. Long upward-pointed crest on top of head. Narrow tract of elongated white hairs on cheeks.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in South-east Asia and can be found in south-central China (in Chongquing, Guizhou and Guangxi provinces) and north Vietnam. Lives in evergreen limestone forests with steep outcrops, up to 600 meters.

IUCN RED LIST : ENDANGERED
CITES : Appendix II
Status : The species has a very fragmented range because of habitat loss. It has also been heavily hunted for Chinese medicine. Now legally protected.
