Identification
Body length of 105 cm, shoulder height of 60 cm, weight of 25 kg. Slender vertical-oriented ridged horns. Coloration dull brown-beige with dark brown band on flanks. White belly. Inflatable sac on nose, used during courtship.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in eastern Africa, mostly in eastern parts of Somalia, extending to eastern Ethiopia. Lives in semi-deserts and dry bushland with acacia trees and small shrubs.

Status : This species is declining alarmingly because of illegal hunting coupled with habitat destruction by domestic cattle.
