Identification
Body length of 340 cm, shoulder height of 183 cm, weight of 950 kg. Fairly short straight twisted horns. Males darker and bigger with huge dewlap on neck and breast. This subspecies is clearer beige-brown with vertical white stripes.

Range and habitat
This subspecies occurs from Sudan and DR Congo to Tanzania. Species also found from Angola to Uganda, south to South Africa. Lives in open woodlands, savannas and grasslands, to 4600 meters.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Not listed
Status : The species occurs mostly in private ranches and protected areas where its populations are stable. It is highly vulnerable to habitat loss.
