Identification
Adults can reach a body length of 2 m for a shoulder height of 90 cm and a weight up to 200 kg. Large wild pig with long legs and very long snout. Hair coloration is grey. Prominent clear grey hair tuft around cheeks and nose. White eyes.

Range and habitat
This subspecies is endemic to Borneo. The species also occurs on Sumatra, Peninsular Malaysia and Bangka. Lives in swamp forests, tropical dry forest, plantations, mangroves.

Conservation
IUCN RED LIST : VULNERABLE
CITES : Not listed
Status : The species still has a large range but is threatened by transformation of forests into palm oil cultures. Also vulnerable to hunting.
