Identification
The biggest specimens of this species reach a length of 2.5 cm. Elongated body with a pair of triangular fins. Head is made of two bulbous extensions. Translucent silvery white with orange coloration on head and red tail tip.

Range and habitat
The species lives under the ice shelf of the Arctic Ocean and in northern Atlantic and Pacific oceans. Lives in oceans in very cold waters, from the surface to more than 500 m deep.

CITES : Not listed
Status : The species’ status hasn’t been assessed but it remains very numerous throughout its range. Global warming may become a serious threat.
