Identification
Adults can reach a wingspan up to 7.2 cm. Mostly dark brown to blackish color with faint clear brown spots on wings edges and red markings on forewings. Broad white horizontal bar on both wings, spreading from side to side.

Range and habitat
The species occurs from India and Bhutan to west and South China, south to Indochina, Malaysia and west Indonesia. Subspecies endemic to Taiwan. Mostly found in forests, from 500 to 2000 m.

Status : The species’ status has yet to be assessed but it appears to be common within its large range.
