Identification
Adults can reach a wingspan up to 9 cm. Ventral side very clear yellow and orange with black-edged lines and spots. Upper side of males bright red, thin black and white edges on wings. Upper corner black with white markings, no lines.

Range and habitat
Subspecies found on most big islands in Philippines. Species found from India to south China, south to Central Indonesia and Philippines. Mostly found in forests and forest edges.

Status : The species’ status has yet to be assessed but it appears to be common within its large range.
