Identification
Adults can reach a wingspan up to 5 cm. Wing margins are toothed. Male has bright orange-red wings with a broad black edge and white band on forewing. Toothed edges are black and white. Underside has spots and stripes.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in South-East Asia, from Myanmar and Indochina to Java, Sumatra, Borneo and Philippines. This subspecies is endemic to Palawan. Mostly found in forests and forest edges.

Status : The species’ status has yet to be assessed but it appears to be common within its large range.
