Identification
The species can grow to a wingspan of 8.9 cm. Forewings elongated, body slim and orange. Upperside is bright orange with large black transversal band becoming faint near body. Underside black with red-edged pink-white bands.

Range and habitat
The species is found in Central and South America, from Mexico southwards to Colombia and north Brazil. Lives in open and disturbed habitats, including plantations and cities, to 1200 m.

Status : The species’ status has yet to be assessed. It appears to be adaptable and common within its huge range.
