Identification
Adults can grow to about 6 cm in wingspan. Slender body, mostly dark brown to black with white spots on sides. Wings dark brown with two rows of white spots on edges, bigger white spots on upper parts of wings. Inside nearly spotless.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in South-East Asia and Australasia, from India to China, to Indonesia, New Guinea and Solomon Islands. Subspecies endemic to Java. Lives in forests, woodlands, mangroves suburban parks and gardens.

Status : The species has a huge range and can live in fairly degraded habitats as long as the host plants remain available. Not assessed so far.
