Identification
This species can reach a wingspan of 6 cm. Ground coloration is solid brown with distinct alternating dark and clear areas on edges and small bands on forewing. Row of small light brown eye-shaped markings on hindwing.

Range and habitat
This subspecies occurs in south Thailand, Malaysia and Java. Species found from India and Sri Lanka to Indochina, west and central Indonesia and Palawan. Lives in woodlands, grasslands, urban gardens, both in wet and dry areas.

Status : The species’ status has yet to be assessed but it is believed to be very common within its huge range and can adapt to man-made environments easily.
