Identification
Adults reach a wingspan of 7.5 cm. Upperside bright orange-red to brown with faint dark lines and conspicuous line of black-edged white cells. Underside darker with the same white cells line, red replaced by grey-blue close to abdomen.

Range and habitat
This subspecies occurs in Southern Thailand and Peninsular Malaysia. The species is found from India and Sri Lanka to China, south to central Indonesia. Lives in dry forests, forest edges, clearings, often near roads or rivers, in lowlands.

Status : The species’ status hasn’t been assessed. It is still common and has a huge range. Some insular subspecies could be endangered by deforestation.
