Identification
Adults reach a wingspan up to 10 cm. Large butterfly with elongated forewings and tailed hindwings. Body and base coloration are dark brownish-black. Atypical white patch on edges of both wings. Yellow edged eye markings.

Range and habitat
This subspecies occurs in Peninsular Malaysia. The species is also found around Borneo, Sumatra, Nias and Palawan areas. Lives in forests in lowlands and foothills, often near bamboo thickets and rivers.

Status : The species’ status hasn’t been assessed. It is still relatively common although its shy behavior makes it difficult to observe.
