Identification
Adults can reach a wingspan of 10 cm. Mostly black, broad and long forewings with greyish markings. Hindwings have club-like extensions, a row of dusty red spots near wing edges and a row of long white spots in the middle. Red head.

Range and habitat
This subspecies occurs on Java, Enggano and Bawean island in Indonesia. The other subspecies is endemic to Tanahjampea. Very wide range of habitats, including cities and gardens, mostly lowlands.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Not listed
Status : This species has a small range but seems to be adaptable, surviving in man-made habitats. More studies are needed for impact of habitat loss.
