Identification
Adults can reach a wingspan of 13 cm. Abdomen has red stripes, head is rose to red. Forewings are very broad, hindwings are long with no tail. Coloration mostly black with clear areas on forewings.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in South-east Asia, from east Nepal and north India to Indochina, south to peninsular Malaysia. Subspecies only found in Malaysia. Lives in hot and humid lowland forests.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Not listed
Status : This species isn’t common in the wild, especially in Indochina and Malaysia. It is now extinct in Singapore and could become threatened in a near future.
