Identification
Adults can grow to 15 cm in wingspan. Black body with iridescent green dots. Underside black with red and blue circles. Upperside peppered iridescent green. Hindwing with bright blue spot spreading to both edges, red and blue rings.

Range and habitat
This subspecies is endemic to west Java, around Mt Gede. The species occurs on Sumatra, west Java, Borneo and Palawan (Philippines). Lives in montane and submontane primary and old secondary forest.

CITES : Not listed
Status : The species occurs only on islands and is dependant on forests, making it potentially vulnerable to deforestation and other forms of habitat destruction.
