Identification
The species can reach a wingspan of 14 cm. Forewings black, hindwings bright yellow with very broad black edging taking nearly half of the wing’s length. Females have white stripes on forewing and more black on hindwing.

Range and habitat
The species is endemic to Philippines and this subspecies occurs throughout the country except in Palawan and Calamian islands. Lives in primary and old secondary forests, woodlands, agricultural areas.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Appendix II
Status : The species seems to be adaptable and common within its range. It can live in modified habitats such as agricultural lands and suburban gardens.
