Identification
The species grows to 9 cm in length with segmented antennae reaching 10 cm. Small head with large mandibles. Small spines on thorax. Elytrae with longitudinal ridges. Coloration is uniformly brown. Darker red limbs.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in South East Asia, from peninsular Malaysia to Indonesia in Sumatra and Borneo. Lives in humid and dry forests, woodlands, plantations.

Status : The species status hasn’t been assessed. It is supposed to be at least locally common despite collection for insect trade (live or naturalized).
