Identification
The species can grow to nearly 8 cm in length, males being much bigger than females with longer mandibles. Shiny black head, thorax and abdomen with golden-brown pubescence on abdomen and thorax.

Range and habitat
This subspecies is endemic to Borneo. Species also found from Myanmar and Thailand to Malaysia and Sumatra. Lives in primary and secondary lowland rainforests.

CITES : Not listed
Status : The species’ status isn’t assessed so far. Like most forest-dependant species, this beetle is likely to become threatened by loss of habitat.
