Identification
This species is one of the largest known millipedes, reaching a length up to 19 cm. Body segments are black with broad dark reddish-brown edging. Smooth roundish head with small antennae. Brownish legs, fairly long (up to 5 mm at least).

Range and habitat
The species occurs in South East Asia, in Peninsular Malaysia and Sumatra at least (range still poorly understood). Lives in tropical forests and dense woodlands, sometimes plantations.

CITES : Not listed
Status : The species’ IUCN status has yet to be assessed. It is collected for the trade but it seems to remain fairly adaptable and common within its range.
