Identification
Large tarantula, reaching a body length up to 9 cm and an armspan of 20 cm. Long and thin legs. Large cephalothorax with powerful chelicerae. Coloration dark brown, body covered with pinkish-brown hairs. Leg articulations cream to white.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in South America and is endemic to northern Brazil, in the Amazon river basin area. Lives in tropical rainforests and wet forests, mostly in lowland.

Status : The species’ status has yet to be assessed. It is collected in big numbers for the trade and its habitat is being destroyed rapidly.
