Identification
The species reaches a leg span up to 12 cm, body length is about 8 cm. Abdomen is black with dark red hairs, cephalothorax orange-brown, legs orange with black feet. Very similar to B. boehmei but more uniformly orange, less red.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in Central America, and is endemic to Mexico, being found in the south-western parts of the country. Lives in dry scrubland and semi-deserts.

Status : This species’ status has yet to be assessed but it’s probably declining because of collection of specimens for the pet trade.
