Identification
Adults reach a body length of 3 cm and a legspan of 8 cm. Males are much smaller and all red, reaching 1 cm. Female has white thorax and yellow abdomen with two rows of spots. Underside black with white spots and limited yellow.

Range and habitat
This species occurs in South East Asia, from Myanmar to Vietnam, south to Malaysia, Indonesia, New Guinea and Solomon Islands. Lives in primary and secondary forests, woodlands and gardens, to 750 m.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Not listed
Status : The species has a very large range and can occur in man-made habitats such as suburban gardens. No known threats at this time.
