Identification
Very large tarantula reaching a body length up to 6 cm and a legspan of 14 cm. Abdomen with two rows of orange markings, covered with short hairs. Legs with long silvery-tipped hairs and orange markings on the last two tarsi.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in South America, from Venezuela and Guyana to nearby Roraima state in North Brazil. Lives in dense humid tropical forests.

Status : The species’ status has yet to be assessed. It is still locally common within its range but could become threatened by deforestation.
