Identification
Adults can reach a shell length of about 30 cm. Oval shell with serrated back margins. Dark olive-brown shell with fine yellow reticulations. Black neck, legs and head with dark yellow curved and straight lines and oval spots.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in North America and is endemic to Texas, occurring in the San Antonio, Guadalupe and Brazos river systems. Lives in large rivers, creeks and lakes in lowland coastal areas.

Status : The species is relatively common within its range. It can tolerate slight habitat degradation and disturbance. Not threatened by collection for trade.
