Identification
Small species reaching 10 cm in length for a weight of 20 g. Tail is short, spiny and round with thin tip. Global coloration is sandy-beige with dark mottling. Throat clear. Males’ throat turn blue when displaying.

Range and habitat
The species is found in eastern Africa (the Horn of Africa precisely), in eastern Ethiopia and north-western Somalia. Lives in arid and desertic areas with sand and rocks.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Not listed
Status : The species is fairly common in the wild and the only threat it might face in the future is overcollection for pet trade and local consumption.
