Identification
Small arboreal monitor reaching up to 1 meter in length. Long prehensile tail with prominent transversal scale ridges. Global coloration emerald green to turquoise green with prominent transversal black bands on back.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in Australasia, in most of the island of New Guinea and has been recorded from north Queensland in Australia. Lives in forests, plantations and other densely vegetated areas with low trees.

Status : The species has a broad range and can live in a large variety of habitats. Despite overcollecting done in the past, it isn’t believed to be threatened.
