Identification
Adults can grow up to 1.20 meters in length. Slender body with long tail. Head black with reddish to yellow transversal bands. Black body with yellow scale centers and rows of red spots on back. Amount of red variable. Yellow-green belly.

Range and habitat
This subspecies occurs from south Thailand to Malaysia and western Indonesia except Sulawesi. Other subspecies found in Sulawesi and Philippines. Lives in open woodlands, forest edges, gardens, parks, even houses.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN
CITES : Not listed
Status : The species has a large range and can live in modified habitats, even close or in cities (Singapore). Targeted occasionally by the international trade.
