Identification
Adults can reach up to 2.4 m in length, maybe exceptionally 3 m. Snout has a near square tip, head is long and narrow. Coloration is usually dark green to yellowish-green with dark chevron-like markings edging each scales.

Range and habitat
The species occurs in western Africa, from Senegal to Togo and Benin. Isolated population in Central African Republic. Mostly found in humid forests, sometimes dry woodlands and savannas, to 1000 m.

CITES : Not listed
Status : The species is common in many parts of its range. Local declines may occur due to persecution and habitat destruction.
