Identification
Adults can reach a maximum length of 1.80 m. Heavy-bodied species with strongly keeled scales. Creamy yellow coloration, becoming grey towards tail. Losange-shaped black markings on back, longitudinal lines on neck.

Range and habitat
The species is found in central America and is endemic to Mexico, occurring in the provinces of Michoacan, Mexico, Oaxaca and Morelos. Lives in dry tropical forests, open woodlands and savannas, mostly in open areas.

IUCN RED LIST : LEAST CONCERN (as C. simus)
CITES : Not listed
Status : The species has yet to be assessed by itself. It doesn’t have a big range but remains at least fairly common. Vulnerable to hunting and fires.
