Identification
Adults can reach 18 cm in length. Adults light brown with clear longitudinal bands, blue back and tail peduncle, elongated tail filament on upper tail fin lobe. Yellow to brown line from snout to eye, extending to first half of body.

Range and habitat
The species occurs only occurs in the western Pacific Ocean, from Philippines and South China sea to Singapore and western Indonesia. Lives in open soft-substrate areas, from silty bays to deep muddy grounds, to 50 m.

Status : The species doesn’t seem to suffer from any threats at this time. Only recently assessed by IUCN.
