Identification
Adults grow to 20 cm in length for a weight of 60 g. Juveniles are striated, adults are shiny and glossy blue-green with red eyes. This subspecies is lighter and bigger than others, being mostly blue, slight green tinge on belly.

Range and habitat
This subspecies occurs in Philippines and Sulawesi. Found from north-east India to south Myanmar, Malaysia, western and Central Indonesia, Philippines. Lives in lowland forest, forest edges, clearings, plantations and gardens, to 700 m.
