Identification
Bright red bill, plumage mostly black with a strong iridescent dark blue tinge on whole head, upper breast, back, wings and tail. Breast and belly white with broken dark breast band.

Range and habitat
South America, from Guianas to central Brazil, west to east Peru and north Bolivia. Found in canopy of tall humid forests (terra firme forests only), to 900 m.

CITES : Not Listed
Status : The species has a large range and no threats are known. Populations locally vulnerable to habitat loss as the species needs very old tall forests and large territories. Globally uncommon.
